How can we help?

Updating domain DNS settings

To change the DNS settings for a website domain, you will need to access the control panel for the domain’s registrar (the company where you registered the domain name – this may be 123-reg, GoDaddy, Namesco, FastHosts, or similar) or the DNS hosting service you are using. Here are the general steps to change DNS settings for a domain:

  1. Log in to the control panel for your domain registrar or DNS hosting service.
  2. Locate the DNS settings or DNS management section for the domain you want to edit.
  3. Find the option to edit or change the DNS records for your domain.
  4. Add an A Record and in the ‘Points to’ field enter the IP address we have supplied you, leaving the ‘Host Name’ field empty (If you are required to enter a value in the Host Name field, use the @ (at) symbol).
  5. Repeat the process to add a second A Record, enter www (3 W’s) in the ‘Host Name’ field, and enter the same IP address in the ‘Points to’ field.
  6. Save the changes.
It is important to note that changes to DNS settings can take some time to propagate across the internet, so it may take a while for the new settings to take effect. This usually completes within 24-48 hours.
